The end of the pad file?

I found this article and it got me thinking.

Having read this I don't think its as bad as it sounds.
I mean sure, we will get less in bound links, but I think theres something to be said for people looking at shareware sites and perhaps buying your software.

  1. I don't think it's the end of the PAD file BUT ... I do think that PAD files as a way of promotion are not as powerful as they might once have been. I think the issue these days is to distinguish your software from the rest of the herd and PAD files are simply a way of following the herd.

    What are your thoughts?

  2. I agree.

I wish there was a pad submitter which has the feature like your program does, to allow 5 or x different values for submitting descriptions etc.

Although having said this I do struggle to write things in mine atm.

However, from my recent submissions and fixes in the softtester robot, I know that the pad spec is used loosely. So I think their is a future, I'm sure it will adapt or shareware site owners will start to accept new data which will work round future problems. I mean theres plenty of sites which ignore the categories in the pas spec.
